a loving tribute to the Beatles

Sgt. Pepper
Rolling Stone Magazine named "SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND" the greatest album of all time 36 years after it made its debut. Conceived as a record that could "tour" for them and released in 1967, this eighth album by the Beatles was innovative in every sense. They became entirely a studio-based band with the state-of-the-art technology of Abbey Road Studios and producer George Martin.

THE DADA MOVEMENT started in various international art capitals near the end of WWI as a protest against the "atrocities of war" and the "adult" sensibilities that allowed it. The term struck a chord with me a few years ago when I was writing an artist's statement for an exhibit of my figurative assemblages, and I've used the name "Dada Dolls" since. At that time (as now) we were struggling to make sense of the escalation of international conflicts, and in 1967, the time of this album, the conflict was in Vietnam. It was a coming-of-age soundtrack for many of us.
